Property and Mechanism of Action of Dexpanthenol. Dexpanthenol is the dextrorotatory isomer of panthenol, and only the dextro-form is biologically active. Panthenol (provitamin B5) and pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) have a similar structure, and the oxidation of panthenol produces pantothenic acid.
